DENVER — This evening, voters in Iowa participated in the first in the nation caucus.  Republicans tonight threw their support behind Senator Ted Cruz, and the Democrat’s contest is still too close to call.

Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado, released the following statement regarding tonight’s results:

“The 2016 race to the White House has officially begun. Republicans made it clear that they are ready to turn the page on President Obama’s failed agenda.

“The mere fact that the outcome of the Iowa caucuses have come down to a literal coin toss tells us that Democrats are so disenfranchised post-Obama with lefty leadership telling them who to support that they would seriously consider a self-avowed socialist over the candidate being forced on them.

“There is still a long way to go before each party has selected their nominee. Rest assured that Compass Colorado will be working to educate voters about where the candidates stand on important issues like limited government and the free market.”
