"We are certainly disappointed, but sadly, are not surprised by this ruling." said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. "Apparently, the only thing you need to get a pass from the IEC in Colorado is a 'D' behind your name."
The IEC chose to hear this case and not assign it to an Administrative Law Judge, despite the fact that three of the five commissioners have personally donated to the Governor's campaign.
"This is like four wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner," Maher added.
The Governor's counsel attempted to assert that the DGA event in Aspen was a policy conference and not a fundraiser.
"The Governor saying that it was primarily a policy conference and not a fundraiser is like every time a guy's told me that he reads Playboy for the articles," said Maher.
