(DENVER) – Congressman Ed Perlmutter announced his bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Colorado today. Perlmutter, a six-term Denver-metro Congressman made the announcement in front of a crowd of supporters at Natural Grocers in Golden. Since 2007, Congressman Perlmutter has voted with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time.
“Coloradans are sick of politicians identifying problems without offering any real solutions,” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “Congressman Perlmutter should consider doing more than just identifying problems and looking for a scapegoat.”
During his announcement speech, Perlmutter discussed “health care for everyone.” Despite voting for and supporting Obamacare, a law he admits is flawed, Perlmutter declined to offer any substantive plans or solutions. The Colorado legislature just finished contentious budget negotiations that were difficult in part due to an ever-growing portion of the state coffers dedicated to Medicaid.
