DENVER (July 20, 2015) – In response to President Obama’s disastrous potential deal with Iran, Sen. Cory Gardner has shown decisive leadership. Gardner strongly opposed not just the deal itself, but the Obama administration’s attempted end-run around Congress by taking the deal straight to the U.N. prior to congressional approval. In sharp contrast to Sen. Gardner’s strong stance, Sen. Michael Bennet’s non-declarative single statement on the issue offers up a small serving of milquetoast.

The Iran deal includes “breathtaking concessions,” according to Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. and bipartisan opposition is emerging across the country.

“Sen. Bennet tries to bill himself to Coloradans as independent and non-partisan while refusing to stand with other members of even his own party against President Obama,” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “Sen. Bennet should take a page from the book of Sen. Gardner on leadership and assert a strong stance against the Iran deal. Coloradans deserve to know where Sen. Bennet stands on critical issues, and the statement he has provided makes it impossible to conjure any coherent stance out of his pablum.”
