“People forget that Governor Hickenlooper has never run in a competitive, one-on-one race in his entire political career. These polls show that Coloradans are saying ‘he’s a nice guy, but maybe he shouldn’t be governor,’” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “This year a change belt with quarters or showering with his clothes on won’t be enough to pull him across the finish line.”
“These numbers are about as good as they’re likely to get,” added Maher. “As the Republican ticket solidifies behind a single alternative to Governor Hickenlooper’s ‘TBD’ style of leadership, the contrast will become more stark.”
Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,298 registered voters on land lines and cell phones with a margin of error of +/- 2.7 percentage points from April 15th through April 21st. The PPP poll surveyed 618 Colorado voters from April 17th through April 20th.
