DENVER (June 8, 2015) – U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) is part of an ever-growing group of Colorado elected officials urging the federal government do whatever necessary to keep the Colowyo coal mine open despite a lawsuit, designed to shutter the operation, filed by the radical environmental group WildEarth Guardians.

Sen. Bennet now has a problem. The case is currently in front of Judge R. Brooke Jackson, a jurist who ascended to the federal bench on Sen. Bennet’s recommendation. Since his confirmation in 2011, Judge Jackson has already created a substantial record of siding with far-left interests, including the WildEarth Guardians. This places Bennet’s purported concern about Colorado jobs at direct odds with the record of his lefty environmental judicial recommendation.

“Senator Bennet is trying to look like a centrist who is concerned about Colorado jobs now that he’s facing reelection,” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “Yet, Bennet’s recommendation for the bench reveals his true colors – environmental extremism over Colorado’s workers.”
