DENVER – This morning an article in The Denver Post announced Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has taken the “extraordinary” step of endorsing Phil Weiser in the Democrat primary for Colorado Attorney General. Weiser was recently trailing his opponent, Senator Joe Salazar in a Magellan poll by 19 points.
Weiser is widely seen as more electable than Salazar, and big hitters are pulling out all the stops to try to drag him across the line by next Tuesday. Although Governor Hickenlooper didn’t make a formal endorsement in another contentious Democrat primary – that for Governor – he did weigh in heavily in favor of Lt. Governor Donna Lynne, going so far as to appear in her television ad. Lynne is currently polling in last place of the four major candidates in that race.
“Hickenlooper’s support obviously pulls a lot of weight, just ask current Democrat gubernatorial primary frontrunner Donna Lynne,” said Compass Colorado’s Kelly Maher.
